Profile:

Undaunted by a cerebral palsy condition since early childhood, Gauri Ketkar (erstwhile Madhuri Sathe) fulfilled all family responsibilities including raising a son and yet did not give up on pursuing her passion in Art & Craft. She experimented and tried out various ways initially as a means of self expression, then for her son who was growing up, then for his friends, then for children in the neighbourhood and the scope kept on expanding....

She started with drawing and painting for herself...Then she started teaching children and finally found solace in working with special children...she does this with genuine interest and compassion.....in doing so, she is a great motivation and a role model for the children as well as parents who see a ray of hope when they see their children engaged in pursuits of art and craft.....may be it will empower the child to lead a meaningful life despite adversity...

Apart from working with children including special children, Gauri Ketkar works extensively in paper craft and papier-mache and recycles all kinds of waste to create beautiful objects. She has found wonderful support from her son and husband as well as other family members and their home is well known in the neighbourhood for being a zero garbage home.
